Frogue Cloud Capabilities:
Amazon Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2): Frogue setups up a migration strategy with EC2 is Amazon Web Service’s most popular Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution. It gives agencies access to virtual servers with a wide range of computing resources. No software is included in these instances except the operating system.
Amazon Relational Database System (RDS): Frogue setups up a migration strategy RDS runs on the same infrastructure as EC2, but is considered Platform as a Service (PaaS) because it is customized and configured specifically for hosting relational databases. Amazon allows users to lease RDS instances with software licenses included (e.g., Oracle DB, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) or bring their own licenses.
Microsoft Azure: Frogue specializes in Azure is Microsoft’s family of Cloud services. Their “Compute” services are comparable to EC2. Azure’s database specific products (comparable to Amazon RDS) do not allow users to install Oracle licenses; only Microsoft SQL and a select set of open source products.
Oracle Cloud: Because Many of Oracle’s family of Cloud services are comparable to AWS and Azure. Frogue is focused on becoming a major player in the Cloud services market, by taking market share from AWS and Azure, and also proactively working with agencies who currently host Oracle software on premise to migrate to their Cloud.
As you’ll see in the following sections of this paper, one of the levers Frogue uses to incentivize agencies to use their Cloud services rather than AWS, Azure, or others, is their software licensing model.
