        Emerging Infrastructures

Emerging Infrastructures and the Limits of the Organizational Container

The view of organizations as bounding and containing work systems has historically been useful, but scholars have recently chronicled a growing erosion and transcendence of traditional organizational bounds (O’Mahony & Lakhani 2011).

Though much work is still performed within an organization, increasingly, to recognize benefits of new technologies, new skillsets must be brought in, where work can be segmented and coordinated through multi-team systems of employees and contractors that cross or even exist outside of the boundaries of a single organization legacy technology.

The shift away from legacy organizations as the primary container of the work system is enabled, at least in part, by changes in the nature of the technical and information infrastructures upon which new skillsets, resources, technology and work systems can be achieved.

Increasingly, work is no longer tied to systems built and managed by a single legacy organization, but is rather enabled by broader infrastructures such as cloud, hybrid, on prem and so on. Frogue can help support your vision with our staffing and solution services.
